What qualifies Ed Roy as an expert in Forensic Meteorology?

Flying has been a lifelong love.  Ed started learning to fly at the age of 14 and in 1970 became a instrument rated commercial pilot, in 1971 a certified flight instructor (still instructing), and then later he earned his PhD in flying.... an Airline Transport Pilot Rating.

As there was no aviation department at the University of Southwestern Louisiana (now ULL), Ed decided to combine flying with a talent in broadcasting and developed a serious interest in Meteorology.  He earned a Bachelor of Science in Earth Science and Speech, with a Minor in English, eventually earning the distinction of "meteorologist."  The real tie-in was when he began flying into the eye of hurricanes to determine how severe they really were with the Hurricane Hunters.  He earned the coveted "Eye of the Storm" award from Keesler Air Force Base in 1980.  Since that time, he has flown into the eye of most major hurricanes in the Atlantic, Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico.

Ed Roy has numerous current ratings including:  Glider Rating, Multi-Engine Land Rating, Instrument Rating and Single Engine Land Rating.  He has logged over 13,500 hours of accident and violation-free flight time in both single and multi-engine and jet aircraft as both pilot in command and instructor.

After college, Ed Roy began a career in meteorology.  He was the first meteorologist hired in Lafayette, Louisiana, becoming the first, full-time broadcast meteorologist in the Acadiana area.  Later, he became Meteorologist-in-Charge at KATC TV-3.  He was awarded "Best Weathercast in Louisiana" by the Associated Press and was a frequent contributor to Paul Harvey News and Commentary.

In the 1980's, Ed started the SkyTrak Radio Network and became the Chief Meteorologist, covering nearly 20 radio stations in Louisiana, Texas and Mississippi. He later sold the company and was retained as consultant for the next two years.

He frequently served as a weather source for the Times Picayune of New Orleans, the Morning Advocate in Baton Rouge and The Daily Advertiser in Lafayette.  Ed was a presenter at the First International Hurricane Conference in Biloxi, Mississippi.

Ed has served as Guest Cajun Meteorologist on KUSI's Morning Show, a nationally syndicated television show in San Diego.

Ed Roy joined the University of Southwestern Louisiana (now ULL) Debate Team while in college.  As a result, he became one of the best public speakers in America and is a great ambassador for the Cajun culture.  His experience in meteorology and as a public speaker further qualify him as an expert witness. He is great to have on your team!

And, that's what qualifies Ed Roy as an expert in Forensic Meteorology!
